Me and George
I got home from New York last week and threw myself at George.
He threw me back.
He wasn't ready to talk, even though I'd found him a fantastic brownstone to live in, a good office at Columbia University to work at, and a plot that would get him Sophy in the end.
He was busy, he said. He had experiments to work on. He had things to think about. He couldn't talk to me now.
So I threw him under a truck.
That'll teach him.
Now he's in the hospital recovering. And when he opens his eyes he's going to find himself staring into Sophy's big brown ones.
We might have a book here, folks. I'll see what George thinks tomorrow when I turn up at the computer and open his file.
At least now he knows I mean business.
ps: I'm putting together my Hugh and Dan contest -- which I would have had up by now, but battles with George, and piles of laundry and suchlike have kept me from sending the stuff to Heather my webmistress.
But you know what next Monday is, don't you? Whose birthday it is?
Send me an answer to that question, and I'll put you in my contest before it even starts.
He threw me back.

Whose birthday? Er .. .Duh! . .. No . . .no idea! ;o)
Perhaps I'm just distracted by the idea of George finally getting out from that laboratory of his . . .and under a truck?!
Poor George. But I'm sure Sophy will help him . . .and his author will too.
Now I just need to think about next Monday . . ..
Kate,
Hope you are feeling better. Yes, George and a truck had a close encounter. I'm sure Sophy will be up to the challenge of sorting him -- and the truck -- out.
We aren't telling whose birthday it is, are we? Of course not! Not 'til next Monday.
Now I'm no detective here - but is it feline in nature? Perhaps one of Kate W cat's?
Maybe not.
How about one of your darling children's/grand children's?
Maybe not.
Is it "historical" in nature?
Maybe not.
Ohh this is difficult! Hands up. No idea - sorry! Put us out of our misery soon Anne. Please!
Take care. Caroline x
Ohh random thought here - maybe it's a red herring but.... is it Kate W's birthday?
Ohh I do love a mystery. It must be why I married a detective!
Take care. Caroline x
Stay tuned, Caroline! We'll put you out of your misery soon enough.
Oh you've killed me! I was doing so well at keeping my hysterical laughter underwraps until I got to the threw him under a bus bit!
Ahh well that'll give my stomach muscles a work out :D
Whose birthday?
Dunno, but maybe I should make a birthday cake-in-a-towel.
Excellent that George has met his bus.
Mine has met a dry stone wall.
Onward and upward.
Oh Anne, now you've spoiled my surprise - I have bought the birthday b. . person a lovely set of new towels as a gift. The yellow one must be getting a little worn now.
On second thoughts .. .
Hmm - my word verification is 'dinge' is this a comment on my thoughts??
OMG how did I miss an Anne McAllister post? Am LOVING the sound of George but have NO IDEA who's birthday it is. Not yours I'm guessing by your good friend's comments :)
The suspense is KILLING me!!
:)

Anne, stop giving HINTS! And it was a TRUCK, not a bus that nailed George. Still, I'm glad Nash has met his wall. Has Maddie peeled him off it yet?
Kate, a new set of towels? I was quite enjoying the old one. Frayed and worn though it has become.
Rach,
Glad someone is enjoying George. That would not be me. But I suppose he's like one of my children - the one who was always lovely at OTHER PEOPLES' HOUSES!
And I really can't believe all these people who have NO IDEA whose birthday it is on MONDAY? Goodness, what is WRONG with you? Obviously we haven't done our job well enough. I can see Kate and I have our work cut out for us over the coming year.
Give it up, George. You don't stand a chance...
Lacey, I'm glad George made you laugh. I wish he'd do the same for me.
Liz, Your George is so much more appealing. Of course it could be because he's bound between the covers of a book. Heroes are always much nicer when they've got their happy ending. I'm loving your George. Thanks for sending him my way!
